Permadoor Celebrates 25 Years with Secured by Design

Permadoor has been awarded a plaque to celebrate 25 years membership with Secured by Design (SBD), the official police security initiative. Permadoor became one of the first SBD members in 2000. Since then, the company has remained at the forefront of secure door solutions, working closely with SBD to provide robust, fully compliant products for the affordable homes, social housing and new build sectors.

Our relationship with SBD is not just about leading the way in responsible product design that puts security first. SBD’s rigorous certification process has remained central to the company’s design and manufacturing philosophy, ensuring every product meets the evolving challenges of modern security. As Permadoor looks ahead, the focus remains on continuous improvement, product innovation, and advancing the shared mission with Secured by Design: reducing crime through smarter, more secure designs.

Secured by Design (SBD) is owned by the UK Police Service with the specific aim of reducing crime and increasing safety for businesses and individuals. SBD seeks to improve the physical security of buildings and the surrounding area. SBD have many partner organisations, ranging from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government through to local authorities, housing associations, developers and manufacturers and work closely with standards and certification bodies. SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK, through the Police Preferred Specification. SBD work with manufacturers and standards authorities to ensure that security standards are current and updated to keep pace with emerging crime trends.
